Just because you are skinny. . .
Shared on Social Media on January 16th, 2021.
This isn’t shaming, I am speaking from personal experience. According to society- I was healthy because I was skinny with a 6-pack in my 20’s. Little did I know I had Lyme & 31 coinfections.
You may look healthy & fit on the outside but that doesn’t mean you are healthy on the inside.
I thought I was healthy because I worked out 6-7 days a week. Doctors said the same thing. They asked basic questions about drugs, and alcohol & checked my cholesterol.
Never once did a doctor ask about what I ate, stress levels, sleep, discuss environmental toxins, metabolic health, adrenal fatigue or explain that working out too much can be devastating to the body.
It wasn’t until I started reading about the drastic impact that food & toxins have on your health, that I learned what metabolic health is. There is more to metabolic health than your waist circumference & cholesterol levels. Only 12% of the US is metabolically healthy. The ranges that most doctors use are based on the majority of the population. Aka they are not based on the 12% that is actually healthy. Functional/optimal ranges are what I compare my health too. A good functional doctor should know what a full metabolic panel is & functional ranges. Check out my highlight bubble called “Labs/Metabolic Health.”
•I wish I knew that just because you work out & are skinny does NOT mean you are metabolically healthy. You can’t outrun the toxins on your fork or underlying infections that traditional labs don’t detect.
•What you put INTO & ONTO your body matters & directly impacts your health whether your doctor acknowledges that or not.
